What Is an AI Chatbot and Can It Actually Get You Leads?

The word "chatbot" carries a lot of baggage. Most people's experience is a frustrating widget that loops through three preset options and then tells you to call during business hours. That's not what we're talking about.

Modern AI assistants are different

A properly built AI chatbot — trained on your actual business, your services, your prices, your location — can hold a real conversation. It understands context, asks follow-up questions, handles objections, and routes the conversation toward a booking or a WhatsApp message. It's the difference between a vending machine and a good salesperson.

What "trained on your business" actually means

The AI is given a detailed brief: your services, pricing, FAQs, location, tone of voice, what to do when someone is ready to buy, what to do when they're just browsing. It knows not to recommend packages that don't exist. It knows to mention the Limassol showroom if someone asks about test drives. It answers in English, Greek, or Russian depending on who's asking.

What it can genuinely do for leads

It captures intent at the moment it's highest — when someone is on your site, engaged, with a question in mind. Instead of losing that person to a contact form they'll fill tomorrow (and won't), the chatbot gets the conversation started immediately. It can pre-qualify them, collect their name and number, and hand off to WhatsApp in one smooth flow.

What it can't do

It can't replace a human for complex negotiations or relationship-building. It won't close a €50,000 B2B contract on its own. And a badly configured chatbot — one that hallucinates prices or gives wrong information — will actively damage trust. The quality of the setup matters enormously.

Is it worth it for your business?

If you get more than 10–15 website visitors per day and any meaningful percentage have questions before buying — yes, almost certainly. The chatbot pays for itself quickly in leads captured that would otherwise have bounced. If your site gets 3 visitors a month, it's not the priority. Build traffic first.
